Morocco offers so many intense impressions
Heat is in the air, mixed with the scent of spices such as curry, sage and saffron. Carpets and fabrics present magnificent colours, sweet peppermint tea cools and invigorates. Everything inspires with a unique blend of oriental tradition, breathtaking landscapes and vibrant cities. The “LE MILLE MAROC CLASSIC RALLY” through Morocco lets you feel the magic of the Orient up close – at the wheel of your own classic car! You drive through this diverse and exotic country, one of the last remaining kingdoms on the African continent, where history and modernity meet in a very special way. On this exclusively designed tour, the participants, including Barbara Benz, the Staud family, the Hildebrands and other friends from the region, not only experience the freedom of the road and the beguiling flair of Morocco, but also a community of like-minded people who share a passion for the extraordinary. All of them people on a journey who mould every bend, every mountain pass and every desert dune into unforgettable memories.
The rally starts in Marrakesh, where the vehicles are handed over. A real highlight awaits the classic car enthusiasts in the first few days: crossing the Atlas Mountains. On narrow, winding mountain passes that alternate with beautiful plateaus, you drive into remote Berber regions. The picturesque Berber villages made of red clay provide an absolutely stylish backdrop! Memories of films such as “Gladiator” or “Lawrence of Arabia” come to mind: mountains, sandy desert, adventure. Further highlights await in the evenings: For example, spending the night in Berber tents with new friends from all over the world under thousands of stars twinkling in the sky – moments for eternity. The journey continues over sandy tracks instead of tarmac, endless and unknown routes instead of familiar ones. René Staud has already taken part in the rally from Leonberg several times in his own 911 Porsche and is already considering his next participation. It was the same story for Barbara Benz in her Mercedes-Benz classic car: she was not the fastest on her debut – nor did she want to be. However, after the stages from Marrakech via the Atlas Mountains, the entrepreneur from Stuttgart is aiming for “a good position” in addition to the finish back in Marrakech.

As the organiser of the desert rally, Jean Jacques Radele is also delighted with the sporting commitment of his participants. “There are so many impressions and experiences here in Morocco, you learn to be humble again,” he says. His rally is never about speed, but always about lifestyle and passion. But maybe Christof Sage and I will start next year? Because from the stories alone, the “LE MILLE MAROC CLASSIC RALLY” sounds to me like one of the most fascinating events of its kind in the world – especially in one of my favourite countries.
An adventure is calling – but in accessible form
With safety and comfort in mind, Jean Jacques Radelet (https://millemaroc.com/) has put together an all-round carefree package that includes the enclosed transport of the vehicles to Marrakesh, overnight stays in carefully selected accommodation and an experienced tour guide. You can concentrate fully on the experience, Jean and his team will take care of the rest.
