Porsche and TAG Heuer have always pushed the limits side by side on the tarmac. Since the early days of motorsport, TAG Heuer has played a crucial role in timekeeping on the racetrack, an indispensable tool for racing drivers and race engineers. When it comes to seconds, TAG Heuer is the first choice to find the last 1/1000th.

With the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963, a watch has taken shape that links this decades-long heritage more closely than ever. For true racing fans, this timepiece is undoubtedly a must-have, as its resolute design is the result of a shared, deep-rooted passion.

Racing in the soul

It starts with the streamlined integration of the rubber strap in the shape of the NACA air ducts, as seen on many Porsche racing cars. The Porsche model designation 963 is engraved between the lugs, which also follows in the footsteps of numerous Le Mans-winning vehicles. The pushers and crown stand out in black on the side of the imposing case. The Porsche name sits in a special recess, embossed into a sandblasted PVD background.

The skeletonised dial is supported by tubular elements reminiscent of the roll cages and structural struts found only in cars built for one purpose: racing. They support the three black-painted dashboard-inspired displays in a triple arrangement, with the small seconds at 6 o’clock and the hour and minute counters at 9 and 3 o’clock respectively.

But to see all the iconic elements of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche 963, you have to dim the lights. Then the Porsche name appears in SuperLumiNova on the tachymetre scale of the forged carbon bezel, as does the date display at 6 o’clock. The eight larger indexes on the hour and minute dials (at 2, 4, 8 and 10) point to another Porsche icon: the modern 911 and its headlights. Turn the watch over to take a look at the automatic TH20-00 calibre, which offers a power reserve of 80 hours. The black steering wheel rotor proclaims the collaboration between the two brands in red. Two other elements stand out here: the red column wheel at the top and the number of this sporty TAG Heuer product, which comes in a limited edition of 963 pieces.
